Executive Director - Tom O’Conner was recently appointed as the new Executive Director for the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association, Inc.  He is replacing Tom Lopes, who has stepped down after serving the organization for over 15 years.

President - Benji Bluman, Western New York, was elected the sixty-first President of the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association, Inc. on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. 

Game Fee Freeze - CBOA in conjunction with ECAC and the other sports officiating associations in a press release today have agreed upon a fee freeze for the 2009-10 season. A letter was issued to our members which describes the rational for such a decision. The CBOA Executive Committee voted unanimously on this issue, and it is hoped that all CBOA members will understand the decision in light of these economic times.  Click here to view the letter.

Russ Beisswanger Leadership Award - CBOA Executive Secretary Tom Lopes will be presented CBOA's most prestigious award at the annual banquet in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Saturday, 9, 2009. Tom has exemplified the ideals of this award by faithfully and unselfishly supporting the responsibilities and objectives of CBOA. He served as Executive Secretary of CBOA since 1995-96, a role in which he displayed outstanding leadership and dedication.  Tom Lopes is deserving of this award and CBOA is proud to present him with the Beisswanger award.

CBOA elects 60th President - On Saturday, May 10, 20087, at the annual CBOA banquet held at the Hilton Mystic, located in Mystic, Connecticut, David Elliott was elected as the 60th President of the Collegiate Basketball Officials' Association (CBOA).  David joins an illustrious list of CBOA Presidents, such as John Nucatola, J. Dallas Shirley, Dr. Philip S. Fox, Norman Van Arsdalen, Edgar Cartotto, Arthur Mellace, John Hannon, and Bill Varno, just to name a few. Click the image for a larger view.

ALS Express - Barry Schultz, CBOA, Philadelphia Area Representative, was recently featured in an article in the Courier Post.  Barry was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) more than two years ago. The debilitating disease -- also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease -- attacks the muscles of the body.  For the last two years, Schultz has ridden his bike down the shore in the ALS Express ride to raise money and awareness for the deadly disease. Greenwood to succeed Crowley as Patriot and Ivy Leagues Supervisor - CBOA Official Reggie Greenwood has been named to succeed Mickey Crowley as the next supervisor of the Patriot and Ivy Leagues.  He will work closely with Mickey for the upcoming season and then assume control at the end of the 2008/2009 season.  Click here to read the official press release.

It's Black and White For Nichols - Midway through the first half of George Mason's 75-65 victory over Drexel on Thursday night, the Patriots' Dre Smith lost control of the basketball near the top of the key. Thinking he couldn't pick up the ball again because a pass to himself would be traveling, Smith stared at the ball for a moment until he realized that Drexel's Scott Rodgers was about to pick it up ........see story
