At the 30th Anniversary Banquet in 1979 our Board of Directors announced a new award with the following criteria. This Award will be presented periodically to member or former member of the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association who faithfully and unselfishly supported the objectives and responsibilities of the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association who faithfully and unselfishly supported the objectives and responsibilities of the CBOA as set forth in the CBOA Constitution who has displayed outstanding leadership and dedication to CBOA to his fellow college basketball officials to the game of basketball and has evidenced the highest ideals of moral and ethical character in his relationship with fellow CBOA members and to college basketball.
Through his service to the organization he has contributed significantly to the success of the Association and to CBOAs advancement as the formost basketball officials association in the world. This Award will be known as the RUSS BEISSWANGER CBOA LEADERSHIP AWARD
